Description

The study tries to find an appropiate methodology to analyse if renovation of social high-rise buildings is significant to ensure a sustainable future for such type of buildings. In vue the discord between national housig society and the government about how the future has to look like, renovation or demolotion is proposed since there are different opinions. Many questions rise due to current problems many social, eonomic or management problems occur. Many examples of problem blocks in european coutries to indicate the necessity to verify to what extent the ideals of Le Corbusier and Gropius can be successful. To estimate the real sitution in Flanders, an intens inventory must rovide us the objective data to indicate the problems and to propose solutions for developing a sustainabl future. Constructuins items and technical analysis are required to guide architects, planners and governments in taking descissions concerning renovation and perspectives for high-rise builings. The study should provide us the assessment on the question if such form of scial housing is still adapted to the modern society and if there's sustainanble future ahead.
