Description

In this project an analysis for the building envelope integrating heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and acoustics is performed in the very first design stage. The objectif is to obtain a high performance for each of the mentioned disciplines. For the case studies apartment buildings will be considered. Since sunshine and climate are changing factors, the enveloppe with mobile and adaptable components, which can react upon the climatological conditions. For each disipline several simulations are performed, to evaluate the effect of the adaptable components on the efficiency of the building. These results are compared and if necessary completed with extra calculations, to be able to obtain a material- and energy-conscious project. The project's objectives are: to analyse which data is required to perform an integrated study in the preliminary design stage, to verify if the codes and directivesfor the individual disciplines contain contradictions or are inadequate if applied together, to check if the software programs are the right tools to be used for this multi-disciplinary analysis in the very first design stage of a building.
