Description

The aim of a tax reform, based on the Ecoscore, is to evoke a shift in the composition of the vehicle fleet towards a more environmentally friendly whole. In this tax reform, polluting cars will be punished with a higher annual tax burden, whereas environmentally friendly vehicles will be rewarded with less taxes. It is expected that this tax reform will affect the consumers' car purchase behaviour. The extent in which a change in tax causes a corresponding change in vehicle demand can be measured by means of price elasticties. As such, the budgetary receivings over time can be calculated, taking into account the introduction period of the tax reform, the change in purchase behaviour and the technical evolution of the vehicles over time.
