Jolan graduated in 2014 as Master in Psychology (option Clinical & Biological Psychology) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He currently works as a doctoral researcher within the research unit Sport Psychological and Mental Counselling, at the Department of Sports Policy and Management (faculty Physical Education and Physiotherapy). His research project is funded by the Vlaamse Bloso Leerstoel Topsport. The project involves the development of four mental training techniques and evaluate their effectiveness in the use of mental skills within elite athletes. The goal of this study is to (a) provide an immediate surplus in training and counselling within 5 Flemish sport federations during the current and the upcoming Olympiads and (b) contribute to ‘evidence based’ sport psychological counselling in elite sports in Flanders.
