In 2006 Jikkemien obtained a Master’s degree in Physical Education (option Sports Management) at the VUB. For more information regarding her PhD study click here.

Since December 2012 Jikkemien is also a lecturer within the Master of Physical Education and Movement Science, specialisation sport management. Among other things she is responsible for the internship sportmanagement.

Jikkemien's research interest is related to personal and social development of children and youth through sports in general and martial arts in particular. Furthermore, Jikkemien has also a special interest in sport and detention. More specifically, how sports can be used as a tool in the rehabilitation of inmates.
