Expertise

Ezéchiel Amani Cirimwami is currently a PhD candidate with the Faculty of Law and Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel under the supervision of Prof. Stefaan Smis (VUB), Eric Franckx (VUB), and Prof. Raphael van Steenberghe (Catholic University of Louvain). The title of his dissertation is: "The Procedural Obligation to Extradite or Prosecute for Core International Crimes. What Role for Human Rights?”. He is a scientific collaborator of the Center of International and European Law. Ezéchiel Amani holds an LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law from the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB) and an LL.B. [Bac+5] in Law from Official University of Bukavu (UOB). He also holds a Certificate of Attendance in Public International Law from The Hague Academy of International Law. His main area of research is international human rights law, International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law, Public International Law. Prior to coming to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Amani began his legal career as a Deputy Public Prosecutor and is now appointed as a Judge in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
