Antoon Cox is a PhD student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.  His research focuses on communication processes in language discordant doctor-patient interactions in the emergency department. In this context, he carries out ethnographic observation and discourse analysis in a multilingual inner city public hospital emergency department in Brussels. Antoon also has experience in training and examining community interpreters at the Flemish Centre for Community interpreting (COC) and as a language teacher (Dutch, English and Spanish) at different levels (in secondary, adult as well as higher education).
